Frontball aims for Brisbane 2032

Brisbane 2032

Frontball is officially a candidate to join the program of Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. The president of the International Basque Pelota Federation (FIPV), Xavier Cazaubon, sent a letter to the Australian organizing committee to submit his candidacy. This sport, derived from Basque pelota, embodies the spirit of openness, simplicity and accessibility that define the modern Olympic Movement ", he emphasizes, also recalling that " PlayStation has developed a frontball video game on PS4 and PS5 ", an asset to reach young audiences. The FIPV also hopes to see this game on the program of the eSports Olympic Games in 2027.

« Since its first official appearance in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games In Buenos Aires, frontball continued to strengthen its international presence, continues Cazaubon. In November, frontball will reach a new stage with the organization of its third World Championships in Mexico City, bringing together 35 nations from five continents and ensuring total parity in all events. Driven by this exceptional momentum, the FIPV firmly believes that frontball deserves a place on the Brisbane 2032 program. Through its universality, simplicity, gender equality and its alignment with the principles of inclusion and innovation, frontball would contribute to the richness and modernity of the Games. »

The president of the FIPV therefore proposes to the organizing committee to organize a meeting in Brisbane in December to delve deeper into the subject. 15 years ago, frontball was born with a simple idea: a ball, a wall, and the desire to give everyone the opportunity to play, everywhere. Since then, this idea has spread around the world. Frontball has become a universal and inclusive sport, adds Jean-Michel Idiart, vice-president of the International Basque Pelota Federation, on LinkedIn. Today it's a real pride to see this adventure reach a new level: 68 countries, three world championships, a presence at the Youth Olympic Games, the Pan American Games... and soon, perhaps, on the biggest sporting stage in the world. »
