An honorary member of the IOC since 2016, Lambis Nikolaou has died at the age of 89. The Greek was President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (1985-1992 then 1997-2004), IOC Vice President (2005-2009), member of the executive board of the European Olympic Committees (1989-1993 then 1997-2009) and was the vice-president of the Athens 2004 Games Organizing Committee.
The IOC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of IOC Honorary Member Lambis V. Nikolaou at the age of 89.

As a mark of respect, The Olympic flag will be flown at half-mast for three days at the Olympic House in Lausanne.
