Very trendy. After the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), three American media giants in turn announce the launch of a streaming platform exclusively dedicated to sport. ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery will partner on this project, scheduled for next fall. The name of the platform has not yet been revealed, nor the price of the subscription. But it is certain that the three groups will each release a third of the shares. According to the first details revealed by the creators, the platform will offer events and images from around fifteen networks, including all ESPN channels, but also TNT, TBS FOX and ABC. Its offering should include matches from the four North American professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL), NASCAR, major NCAA events, golf, tennis and the FIFA World Cup. Anything but a coincidence: the announcement of the launch of a sports streaming platform comes at a time when ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery are preparing to begin negotiations to renew their NBA rights, which expire at the end of next season.
