Wrestling

The International Wrestling Federation (UWW) has decided: the world championships in 2023 will take place in Belgrade. The capital of Serbia, country of the president of the body, Nenad Lalovic, was chosen by the office of the body to replace the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk, initially designated to host the global meeting. Two other countries were in the running to win the 2023 World Cups, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Belgrade hosted the world championships this year, already replacing the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. It now remains for the UWW to find a date in a 2023 international wrestling calendar dominated by the Asian Games in Hangzhou, postponed until next year due to the health crisis. The World Wrestling Championships in 2023 will constitute a necessary point of passage on the road to the Paris 2024 Games, in freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's wrestling.
