Paris' bid for the 2024 Games successfully launched on social media. According to AFP, the #Paris2024 hashtag was seen on Twitter more than 148 million times as of 10:00 a.m. on Thursday June 25, less than two days after the official announcement of the French candidacy. The tweet launched by the few dozen French athletes present at the time of the announcement even occupied 4th place in the world during its first hour on Twitter.
