The town of Sarcelles, in Val d'Oise, did not wait for the official announcement of Paris' candidacy for the 2024 Games to take a position. Its municipal council decided, Wednesday April 15, to support the capital’s Olympic project. And, above all, to express the wish “to be involved in the preparation of the file”. The mayor of Sarcelles, the socialist François Pupponi, believes that a “rapid and significant investment on the occasion of the Olympic Games would make it possible to effectively resolve the territorial divides, in Seine-Saint-Denis, but not only”. “The eastern part of Val-d’Oise, with its development potential around the future Sarcelles-Roissy conurbation, must contribute to the tremendous momentum that Paris’s candidacy for the 2024 Games could represent,” argued François Pupponi. To do this, the city is banking on a long-defended sports hall project, “the Dome”, “equipment that can accommodate 10.000 spectators, for important sporting and cultural events”.
